DS and I did our first tandem jump on 8-02. What an insanely wonderful experience. The entire staff was just great, and people who are regular jumpers were so friendly. So many people talked to us about how much fun we were going to have, and made a point to come talk to us afterwards. I believe I talked to mpdeegan before we went up. I didn't get to talk to him after, so if you're reading this......MAN, THAT ROCKED!! I hope to run into you again!
Jeff Brown was my instructor, and Kenny was my videographer and I love em both to pieces. Got em to sign the back of my shirt, even! Jeff, when I saw you in those crazy orange pants, calling my name......I just knew it was gonna be a good time. Kenny, thanks for giving Jeff some pointers on the plane-I'm sure it played a big part in our success
I had watched a bunch of tandem jumps on youtube before we came, so I more or less knew what was going on, but totally spaced out the barrel roll . It caught me by surprise, but once my stomach got back where it belonged, COOL! I was so glad I didn't have to stick my face in my shirt and unload, lol!
The sensory overload is no BS. When Jeff put my arm in front of my face, I had no clue why he did it.....and we only went over that 87 times, right? I couldn't tell you what the number on my altimeter was to save my life.
I'm telling everyone I know....DO IT. Do it at least once, and do it at Skydive Chicago, baby! And, if you're gonna spend the money to jump, spend the money for the video. It all happens too fast, and you're not going to remember what it was like until you watch your video.
DS had an awesome time, and I got to see the little boy I haven't seen in years. You guys made one ol' lady really happy, and one cynical young man still has his head in the clouds.

PS. Um, Jeff, if you happen to be reading this, I had NO control over the string of profanity that came out of my mouth...I think I pulled out a couple of the big guns . Sometimes, the situation just calls for it, ya know? |
