Hi all,

Just can't thank everyone enough for taking time out of their jumping day to come and search for my lost canopy in the corn after my cut-away on Saturday. A big shout-out to John, Chris, Bob, and Rob who spent hours searching and dealing with a very unhappy farmer to boot. I can't thank you enough! I appreciate it more than ever! Thanks also to Rook who did a flyover with his Cessna and was able to spot the exact location of it. Couldn't have found it without that! So thank you Rook! For those not there on Sunday, I was able to work some of my Li'l Deb charm on the farmer and his wife and they gave me permission to enter their field and retreive my canopy. All intact, even have the freebag and pilot chute! So a happy ending to the story! The farmer was actually quite nice to me and wanted me to spread the word at SDC that they are really nice and "real" people and if there is ever an incidence with lost gear on their property in the future to please just go to their door and request permission to enter their property BEFORE walking through their corn. Alls well that ends well. Thanks again to such a great skydiving family to help me out!

Here's a little something to think about..I use to belong to a snowmobile club, and every year at the end of the snowmobile season we would have a dinner and invite all the farmers and landowners of the property we used. The free dinner was our way of thanking them for the use of their land. Perhaps SDC should think about inviting the local farmers( there can't be too many) over for a dinner. Once they see, and understand a little about sky diving, perhaps they will be more understanding. Invite them all at the same time and maybe have a drawing and give the lucky winner a free tandem jump.

Glad you got it back.

The farmers are just looking for the same respect to there land, and livelihood, that we would want shown toward our gear. I have no problem going out of my way to kiss some farmer butt, to get my gear, or the dz gear back.

Deb,

Don't mention it!  Like I said on Saturday "It could have been my canopy out there".  I'm just glad to hear you got it back and all is well with the farmer!  These guys are our neighbors, hopefully this incident helped to build a bridge and let them know there are many of us who do respect them as well as thier land.
