According to dropzone.com, the '07 World Freefall Convention has been cancelled. That can only mean a bigger and crazier SDC Summerfest! You can read about it here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/safety/detail_page.cgi?ID=659

How about a sky crane (helicopter) with an open-top ocean container to jump out of... Now that would be cool!

I think I remember this being a summerfest idea a number of years back but was scrapped due to insurance costs. As if "jumping out of a perfectly good airplane" isn't crazy enough for these insurance people. Perhaps that cost could be more easily absorbed by thousands of people without a convention. Also I have a side thought, and someone correct me if I have mispoke. I thought I remember hearing that Roger Nelson was one of the founders of the WFFC. How fitting that the midwest's premier DZ will once again be home the the midwest's premier boogie.(not like it wasn't already!) This summer will kick much ass!!

Be careful, there's a lot of weirdos out there!

The original WFFC was started by Roger and was held at Big Foot, after that it moved to Freeport and then on to Quincy. Don Kirlin picked up the convention after Roger went on "vacation". I am amused by the way history gets re-written. BTW the original Convention was the Freak Brothers Convention and there is still the old Freak Brothers Convention video. This year - Summerfest will really kick butt - for me - it has always been the Freak Brothers Convention. FB #1762
