13 May 2008 4:26 PM Alert

I think we are doing such a good job lowering our green house gases that it’s starting to freeze back over.  Well, at least Sunday felt like it.

Starting off the week local jumpers Jeff Brown, Christa Cross, and Mike Macino obtained their tandem ratings.  Congratulations and bring on the work!!

Macino

VRW team Mandrin finished their last tunnel camp.  I think I speak for the team by saying we will be happy to fall out of an airplane!  The first skydive camp is over Memorial Day weekend.  We have a total of 4 VRW teams that will be training along side us.  So expect some busy days at the DZ.

We have another three jumpers enrolled into the ‘A’ License in a week program.  We are on a great track to break the AFP record set back in 2001!  Don’t forget that this week the loads are non-stop.

I am looking into getting a small turbine for our weekday business.  I‘m looking at the Kodiak from Quest Aircraft.  The Kodiak will hold around 15 people and have a much lower minimum then the Otter.  With the increase in weekday business that we are seeing it will be a nice fit.  We’ll keep you updated on the process.

CPC happened this Saturday.  After all the swoops Karl Eakins placed first with 468 points, followed by John Zagoda with 337, and Troy Church with 220.  There is a break down of all the rounds on our website: To see them click HERE
Thanks to John for wading into the COLD water and setting up the course.

Remember that we have a bunch of Big Way events happening this summer.  For most of them, you will need to secure your slot by contacting the organizer.  We have listed the people to contact on the events page by each event.  Don’t get disappointed, and make sure you secure your slot!!   If you have any question or need help contacting the organizer please let us know.

The recycling program is working out great.  We are seeing reduced dumpster loads!  It takes all of us to take that extra step and toss the garbage in the appropriate bin.

Some of you might have seen Mom and Pop Nelson around the DZ.  They have moved back to their home for the summer.

Dave and N30EA headed over to Skydive Iowa for the Jump Start Boogie.  Unfortunately, the weather didn’t work out so well and they only got in a few loads.  Hopefully this weather will change for the better.

This coming weekend Dave and N30EA will be heading down to Archway Skydiving Center in southern Illinois.  Expecting a good turnout, I plan on having both Otters here for the Memorial Day Boogie.

Norman Kent still has some slots left for his workshop.  The workshop will take place during our Summerfest Boogie.  More info can be found at www.NormanKent.com

Coming up May 17 are night jumps.  If you need to get your requirements, or just want to do a night jump, come on out.

May 18 is swoop club.  If you want to get involved with a low-key swoop meet this is your event.

I’ll see you this weekend.
