17 Apr 2008 10:18 AM Alert

It seems like the grass is always greener on Monday?

Project cabins has been moving right along, we are hoping to have them finished by the end of the week.  We have already taken reservations for some of the busier holidays, so if you want a really nice place to crash call manifest today.

Saturday we held our annual staff meeting.  I’m happy to have a strong team on board and look forward to a great year.  In addition, I’m happy to say that everyone studied and passed the ‘test’ with flying colors.

Last week I met with Tammy from Heritage Harbor, the new 900 home marina development.  She was excited to have us on board for the “Grand Opening’ May 31.  We will be jumping into the marina to help celebrate their opening.   The project includes condos, town homes, a Hilton Hotel, restaurant, and spa.  It will also have boat slips for boats up to 80 feet! Check out www.hhottawa.com to see the development.  It will be nice to see this new development come into town.

You might have also seen that they are taking down the old Ottawa Inn. This hotel has been quite an eye sore and it will be nice to have it removed.  They are planning on replacing it with a Country Inn & Suites.

We are moving into nearly a month with using bio-fuel without any problems.  The real test is coming up when we start cutting the grass.   We consume around 100 gallons per week so the savings will be great and our carbon footprint will be dramatically reduced.

I would like to welcome JD Jones and Matt Lundin to the skydiving world.  They are enrolled in our ‘A’ License in a week program and will be the first two graduates of 2008.

Coming up this weekend MadCity will be visiting us.  MadCity from the University of Madison Wisconsin is our oldest college club.  We look forward to a busy weekend and reliving college with drinking games and drunken fun.

Also coming this weekend we are sending N30EA back on the road, it’s headed to Skydive Spaceland in Texas.  BJ Worth is hosting a 100-way camp.  5 Otters will be needed to get the job done and SDC is one of them.  Spaceland is also lending one of their Otter to us for our July 80 ways.

Speaking of aircraft some of you were asking about N10EA’s paint job.  Well, the logos came in and we almost have her finished.

Genie’s Café is again open 7 days a week with Taco Tuesday a local favorite!

Back by popular request we are having a Skydiver Garage Sale.  We are going to open up the auditorium for people to set up there stuff to sell.  This is open to anyone and doesn’t have to be skydiving related.  May 24-26 will be the dates.  Goggles, Gear Bags, Pro tracks, Trailers, whatever…we’ll call it SkydiveChicagoBAY.

This coming week looks great with temperatures in the 70’s.  Only took 6 months!!
