Some of the best weather to date was at Skydive Chicago this past weekend. Major change from a few weeks ago.

Even though the weather wasn’t the best during the week, the recently planted crops got a much needed watering. This past week was the last week for the caravan. As I’m typing this update Jerry is headed to Florida to take over for the summer. This comes at a great time as we are maxing out the two airplanes on the weekends. We will have two Otters for the remaining summer. We welcome Dave and Karry back.
Saturday David truly runs a 9-5 cranking out 120 tandems by 5 pm. Giving his staff time to fun jump, have dinner, or sleep. Thanks to David and all the tandem masters for making short work of the tandems.

WSDRA hosted its second annual fundraiser as SDC. Headed up by local jumper Mike Deegan and his son Casey. Casey made is 14th and 15th tandem jumps over the weekend and was at the Tiki bar with a Heineken in hand! The facility truly makes events like this comfortable. We dedicated the VIP lounge to them where they were able to relax, play pool, watch their videos, and enjoy delicious catered food from EAT UP. You can’t get this at any other DZ! Thanks to the WSDRA staff and all the people they brought out.
Ben Crooch was in the freefly area keeping people off the couch. Taking advantage of the high winds at altitude we put up a few cross country’s exiting over 5 miles away!

Laurent from Rhythm was out organizing some small dives. It seems like Rhythm is getting a following with many people taking advantage of their experience and knowledge. Rhythm will be training this coming weekend. To help keep the loads turning we are offering $16 jumps Friday. Spread the Word!
Max was putting up some 10-20 ways. I’m confident they will be happy that the second Otter is coming back. Big ways aren’t so caravan friendly. Thanks Max.

Please remember that SDC is an adult playground and not the best environment for dogs or children. If you have to bring Fido please remember that he has to be on a leash or tied up. Dogs CAN NOT be in the swimming pond. You are more then welcome to have your dog swim in the river but not the pond. Also, dogs cannot be past the fence on the east side. We have had an instance where someone was bit so there are NO exceptions to this rule! All kids under 18 must be in direct supervision of an adult. This means if your under age child is here you must stay on the grounds to watch him/her. I apologize for sounding mean, but it’s for everyone’s safety.

We are now doing a sunset of the month contest. If you have a sunset photo that was taken at SDC then you can submit it in the contest. Check out the forums for more details and to vote!

The following is a note from Chuck and Sally:
Hi Everybody @ SDC!
On Memorial Day Weekend at Skydive Chicago, skydiver support raised nearly $1,500 for Jump for the Cause!
As you may know, JFTC is a fundraising / skydiving event with three goals: To raise money for and awareness of breast cancer, to set a new Women's World Record formation, and to be role models for other women.

The main event of the weekend was a Peace, Love, and BBQ Dinner sponsored by Eat Up Cafe at the Tiki Hut. Many many thanks to Allen and Nicole for generously contributing their time, restaurant, equipment, expertise, and pretty much everything that went along with dinner. The food was delicious and we couldn't have done it without them. Thanks also to T.J. for serving with style!
A heartfelt thank you to everybody who ate (over 80 dinners served!) and/or bought glasses, Ts, and Boobie Koozies!
Peace, Love, and BBQ,
Chuck & Sally

Coming up this weekend is the New Wave Boogie. SDC Furies will be organizing this event geared towards newer jumpers. The following is a post from them:
Don't forget about the New Wave Boogie this weekend! This event is targeted for new jumpers (under 300 skydives). This annual event is the perfect chance to build your comfort level jumping with others as well as hone basic RW skills to be ready to move on to larger groups. Registration is $25 for the two days of coaching and organizing. Meet at 9:00 a.m. in the Southwest corner of the hangar bright and early Saturday morning!

This Friday is water training. If you are trying to get your USPA B license you must go through this course. This course is weather dependent and make sure you bring your swimsuit and a towel. You are welcome to use the shower house to clean up after the course.
This Saturday we will be doing night jumps. We need at least 11 people for the load to go. Please sign up in manifest.

In two weeks we will be hosting Freefly Record Tryouts. This is the last tryout prior to the attempts during Summerfest. The tryouts are open to anyone, however, you must be able to fly head down and take grips. The tryouts begin Saturday morning at 9am and there is a $20 registration fee payable to manifest.

Don’t forget this Friday is $16 jumps. The teams will be training so the loads will be turning. Spread the word!
Thanks again to everyone for a safe fun weekend.
