Skydive Chicago

Sorry for the delay in posting this update.  Better late than never!

The sun was shining this past weekend, however it was still a little brisk!

Starting off, Rhythm was in full force with the popular Team for a Day.  Many jumpers wasted no time kicking off their season with some great coaching.  The following is an update from Rhythm:

SDC Rhythm XP hosted its first Team for a Day of 2009 this past weekend.  Eight participants, plus Rhythm, made up two teams each day.  The teams met at 8am to stretch and prep.  All dives had video so the teams could do a thorough video debrief after each jump and then repeat the jump focusing on specific improvements.  Many participants did both days, and the improvement was very clear in the video over the two days.

On Saturday, Team Optima and Team Pulse made 7 and 9 jumps each, which for many participants was the most they had done in a day. On Sunday, Team Infinity and Team Cypres2 each made 4 jumps.  A great weekend for spring in Chicago!

It was great to see the groups all having a good time and encouraging each other.  Extra thanks to Pete, Henrik and Kevin for videoing for the weekend, and to Whitney & manifest, and the packers for keeping us on loads all weekend long.

Future Team for a Day dates are set for April 25, 26, May 9,10, June 27,28.   Slots are limited and already filling up for April and May, so anyone interested should sign up now by emailing
janette@rhythmskydiving.com.  More details for Team for a Day can be found here: http://www.rhythmskydiving.com/events_coaching.html#teamday

After the event I had many compliments on it and the only complaint was that it hasn’t happened sooner!

This past weekend we were able to use the Caravan at home and it really worked out.  With a 6-person minimum she hardly spent any time on the ground!  About half way through the day we fired up the Otter to handle the increased workload.  Thanks to Doug who helped us out flying this past weekend.

Saturday night we said farewell to a staple at SDC, Enzo is going on a year vacation in Hawaii.  After several rounds of cheers, some jumpers hopped on the hovercrafts and went for a midnight cruise.  From all of us at SDC we wish you well Enzo and travel safe!

Sunday we woke up a little fuzzy, but the sun was shining and Rhythm was hard at work prepping the Team for a Day participants.  The Caravan kept the loads turning until we retired to the skylounge for the ever popular, Pasta & Pizza night.

Coming up this weekend is SDC Flying Fish 4 way scrambles.  Be sure to join in for some great dives.  Check out
www.SDCFlyingFish.com for the latest info.

Also this weekend is Mad City college weekend.  The oldest college club that SDC has will return this Saturday for jumping and college stunts!

Saturday, after jumping, is our annual Staff meeting.  If you plan on working here this season please be in attendance.  We have some new items that we would like to go over. The meeting will take place in the tandem classroom.  EAT UP will have dinner available.

This weekend starts team training for our VRW team.  We will hopefully post the winner and our team name in this coming weeks update.  I’m excited to get started on the long road to de-throne those AZ punks!

Some of you may remember when they shot a music video starring Lady Luck last year.  Well the final production is out check out

Thanks to everyone that came out this Easter weekend and I look forward to some warmer temps in the coming weeks!
