23 Oct 2007 6:02 PM Alert

I remember one saying that all good things come to an end.  Well we are all still here but the wonderful weather that was the summer of 07 has left.

By no means have we slowed down.  Well, I guess a little after the jam-packed season that we had.  I think that we are all recovered from nationals.  I really want to thank again everyone involved in making that event happen; especially my sister Melissa who came out of retirement to help put on a great show.  Also, Erin for her huge help in the behind the scenes.

So what’s ahead of us?  This weekend is 2-for-1 jumps.  Anyone who has purchased a 100 or 200 jump package will get 2-fo-1.  All other jumps will be $20.  We had a great season and want to say thanks.   Sarah from the Fabulous Furies will be here organizing.   Also the prices for the 08 jump packages will be out soon.  We are hoping that the price of oil starts to drop so we can lower the prices.  We will have the prices posted on the website.

This past weekend was a strong Saturday with the otter flying over 20 loads.  I guess the cooler weather isn’t so bad.  With the –34 conversion that N10EA underwent this summer 10 is climbing to altitude in under ten minutes!!   We are working on a deal to get –34’s and four bladed props on 30EA.  This plane was fast already I can only image how fast it will be with –34’s!!  After the Sebastian trip N10EA is off to the paint shop.  Look out it’s going to be one clean, FAST bird next spring!!  SDC is dedicated to have the safest aircraft and will put every penny of profit back into them.

Congratulations to long time SDC jumper Betty Bennett for completing 3000 jumps.  Betty really has made her way throughout the sport being on records, competing in nationals and, lately, wing suit flying.  Congratulations Betty from everyone here at SDC.

With the turning of the weather Genie’s Café has moved indoor to the Skylounge.  The lounge was a nice change of pace from the Tiki bar and the leather couches don’t suck!! This weekend the Café will have the lounge open Friday at 9pm.  Saturday’s menu will include Sloppy Joes, Swedish meatballs, veggie trays, assorted dips / chips, snake trays, and sweet treats.  SDC will be covering the food.  Drink specials include: apple pie shots, pumkintini’s, margaritas, vodka specials, and bud light drafts.   Don’t forget that this Saturday is our famous Halloween party.  Bring your costume otherwise risk looking out of place.  We will have games and hopefully Karaoke as well!!

Para-Concepts the onsite rigging loft is hosting a FAA riggers course that started this past weekend.  The ‘sweatshop’ was bust with students learning the ropes of rigging.  Good luck to all the students.

SDC and Xsport fitness has teamed up.  We are running promotions and will be jumping into the Naperville location on October 30.  It’s located just north of Naper aero.  We are planning on jumping around 5pm if you want to come out.  If you are looking for a way to avoid cabin fever this winter check them out at www.xsportfitness.com .

Dave and the second otter are off to a busy winter.  The weather has been very dry which is good for skydiving but not for crops.  If you are in Atlanta this winter check out www.skydivethefarm.com and say hi to Dave and N30EA.

I have been getting lots of response on the Chicago invasion of Sebastian.  I would like to have a good representation there so if you are still up in the air about holiday/winter travels I encourage you to visit.  N10EA will be there and we still have some tunnel time remaining.  Beach jumps, L/Os tunnel time, Kick butt New Years party!!   Check out www.skydiveseb.com for lodging and boogie info.

I have already started assembling the calendar for next year. I like to hear some feedback from you on what you would like to see happen at SDC.  You can plan on the ‘usual’ events (i.e. 4th of July, Summerfest, etc).   If you have any suggestion or want to plan an event please contact me at Rook@skydivechicago.com.

Please remember that you must finish your jump package this year or you will get upcharged for the jumps.  You have until we close but it does get cold here.   SDC’s last day is December 10.  Also, after Halloween SDC will be closed Wednesday’s and Thursday’s.
