I’d like to start by apologizing for the lack of updates. It has been non-stop since the Battle at Midway way back in June!

Summerfest was another Huge Success with almost 700 people registered. Pictures tell a thousand words so here are some of our favorite pics from the event.

Thanks to Rick and Vertical Access for bringing the helicopter out. It was certainly a hit with the crowd.

SDC was host to the Golden Knights VIP Tandem camp. The facility proves to be first class for their guests. “Its nice that we can invite high profile people to a nice facility and not just some hangar in a field”. Some of the guests included: Miss Illinois, Benny the Bull, the Golden Tee created, and the Bears owners’ wife. Thanks to the Golden Knights for choosing SDC.

The AFP program has been rocking! Many students take advantage of the ‘A’ License in a Week coupled with an event. Can you imagine coming to Summerfest and getting your License? Congratulations to Louise Fornander, Haley Chamberlain Nelson, Dominic Krupa, Erin Atherton, Nicole Lyle, Adam Hoffman, Connor Kennedy, Blake Ashley, Dave Krupa, Matt Billich, Chad Keeney and Maytee Kneitz. Check them out HERE.

The following are updates from the SDC teams:
Jetstream Tango
Thank you to everybody who participated in Jetstream Tango's 3-Way Scrambles this past weekend. We all had a blast performing the dive pools consisting of randoms, blocks, and even some slot-switching. Omnia Ibrahim of the winning team won discounted tunnel time from/with SDC Rhythm XP. Tim Miller of the second place team won the gift Certificate provided by Para-Concepts, but graciously gave it to his teammate. Tim, a quite experienced skydiver, was just passing through the area on his bridge-to-bridge trip along I-80; almost 3000 miles. Other prizes were provided by Velocity Sports Equipment and Jetstream Tango. Kevin Naftzger and Rob Radez provided the excellent camera work once again; thanks guys! Don't forget to mark your calendars for our next License Support Day(s) of Sept. 25 and 26! Blue Skies!

We had a great time organizing at SDC's Summerfest 2010 and got to jump with lots of old friends and meet many new ones too. We have lots of events coming up in the fall and next year and wanted to give a quick update.

4 and 8 way player coach projects for 2011
We've had a lot of success with our 4 and 8 way player coach projects in 2010. Check out this video from our latest 8 way training camp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWxjdt9-8BU We will be expanding the program into 2011, and offering 4 and 8 way player coach team opportunities for all levels. Player coached teams are a great way to get a fun, productive, hassle-free team experience, learn a ton, and guarantee a full-season fixed budget and schedule with no surprises and train at two world-class facilities, Skydive Chicago and Paraclete XP. Whether you are a seasoned competitor or new to competitive RW, there will be an appropriate team for you. Schedules and prices will be finalized in the fall, with applications due in December/January. Schedules will be set to allow people to participate in both 4 way and 8 way. For more details contact janette@rhythmskydiving.com, or look for an info packet in September.

16 way at US Nationals 2010
If you enjoy challenging skydives with good people in a competitive environment, this team is for you! SDC Rhythm XP is organizing a 16-way team to compete at Skydive Chicago at USPA Nationals 2010. The goal is to enjoy the fun and challenge of competition at USPA Nationals while representing Skydive Chicago on a team of highly skilled skydivers. Each team will have a Rhythm team member as captain. This will be an invitational team, meaning that participants will be asked to fill out a short registration form to ensure a consistent experience level within each team. The kind of skills folks should have is at least a basic background in 4/8 way training and/or solid experience in 16-40 way events. Questions? Contact Steve at (609) 865-3718 or steve@rhythmskydiving.com. Here's some video of the cross-dz 16 way competition we organized over the last weekend of Summerfest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOAtfDz7KYg

We will have the Skyvan back on the flightline for Labor Day Weekend. If you haven’t gotten your fix for tailgates this will be the last time it flies at SDC for this year. Don’t miss out!

The following is from Nancy, a woman from a university that asked us to help distribute her survey:
Hi. I'm currently conducting an online research study to look at how skydivers and their romantic partners see the risks of skydiving. I'm looking for participants for the study, and I'm hoping it would be possible for you to send out an announcement about the study to skydivers at your DZ.
It takes 30-40 minutes to participate in the study, and participants can leave any question unanswered that they don't feel comfortable answering. You can find a link to the study at http://myweb.liu.edu/~nfrye/skydive1/consent.php
Thanks!

Coming up this weekend is MWSL. We will be using Cam Score for judging. We will also have a rated judge scoring the meet. We certainly have raised the bar for local meets.
2010 has been an incredible year. I could not have done it without my amazing staff that makes it look easy! Somehow we managed to find some free time and went to a rooftop Cubs game. I always enjoy having the team together in a non-work environment. I’m always amazed how many people make up SDC. We are soon going to need 2 buses to include everyone!

The season is not over yet but we are already working on winter plans. So far we are planning on:
Nov. 11-14 Keys (Marathon) Boogie!
www.skydiveseb.com for more info
Dec. 26-Jan 2 Sebastian Invasion
www.skydiveseb.com
Jan. 27 – 30 Everglades Boogie
www.skydiveFL.com
Feb. 9-12 Puerto Rico Boogie
www.xtremedivers.com
We will have a DZ set up in South Padre starting on December 1 though April. Although we will primarily be doing tandems everyone is welcome. It is one crazy Spring Break party! www.skydivespi.com for the latest.

I look forward to our last major event of the season and wish everyone well in the upcoming comp!
