We just made all our reservation and we are staying at Captain Hiram's getting in on the 29th,.....so we are in !
Rook? What’s the deal with tunnel time at night? Do I have to reserve it through you or what?
If any one wants to touch base before the trip, give me a call, .......Anyway see you all there.
It's going to BE a Blast!!

Is it actually possible for SDC AFP students to finish (or at least continue) training at Sebastian? I think the Sebastian program is AFF, so unless there's some sort of 'sister-DZ' program, maybe this bullet is for local AFF students? Any AFP instructors want to comment? If true this would be really handy (dandy?) and probably a lot of fun.
Cheers,
Deke

I will call Rook and make sure some of the SDC Instructors are coming to the boogie then it should be no problem to complete your AFP in Sebastian. The skydive Crosskeys staff bring there students down and all of there student gear and complete people at Sebastian, We to do AFP with our students not AFF. As for tunnel time i have booked 25 hours all of which is in the evening and you can let Rook know you want to fly and he will book it thru me or you can just see me down at the boogie. There is plenty of time to go around so we do not need to pre book anybody. Every year people just let me know what day they want and we can put you in.
The orlando tunnel is in the process of putting in a bigger Air straightener as we speak which means FASTER CLEANER AIR . See ya down there. Kim Worthington Boogie Organizer.

We are able to do AFP jumps while in Sebastian. I do need AFP students to confirm that they will be there and dates so we can bring equiptment (rigs) with us. Please e-mail rook@skydivechicago.com and confirm travel dates. Kim has set tunnel time aside for us. The best way to work it is during the boogie gather some friends and find Kim or I and we will reserve the time for you. I plan on making a few trips so if you are unable to gather people hop on one of my trips. I will spread the word when we are going. I arrive on the 26th and will be staying till the 7th.

Rook,
I will check airfares and get back to you asap regarding likely dates. I'd also like to poll some of the MadCity students and see if there's any interest in this on their end too. Were the remarks about tunnel time part of the AFP instruction, or just an answer to a separate thread? The idea of using the tunnel in conjunction w/ AFP training is something I've been meaning to ask about (separate from the Sebastian gig) for some time. This might be a good way to work out some of the stability issues I've been experiencing in AFP as I can get an answer a lot faster than waiting for the debrief. It might even end up saving a lot of $ too in repeated jumps. Thoughts?
Thanks,
-Deke

Hey Deke,
I would like to go to continue my AFP also. If you find some good flights out of MSN or MKE let me know. I still don't know if I have the time off of work, but have started to check on airfare. I also have, in my less sane moments, considered driving, but would need a second or third driver, but then I see the price of gas and come to my senses!!
But, unless my boss grows a pair soon, I won't be able to do this. (You would think by now that he has learned to not piss off the nursing staff that he relies on to pick up extra hours!)

Deke,
AFP students are more then welcome to join us for tunnel trips. This is a great tool to help your skydiving skills. After ten minutes in the tunnel you will see a difference on your next skydive. We will be organizing trips once we get there. I have gotten a lot of e-mail of people attending so this should be one great invasion!!

Count me in! Not sure exact dates, but probably something like 28th - 1st or 2nd. Anyone with spare hotel space to share? |

Kris,
All of my best FL spies are gone for T-day, so I've just been running the dates and airports through Orbitz, like everyone else. Direct to Orlando looks like $360-$450 (From Madison, WI.) It gets a little cheaper if I'm willing to bus it to Mitchell or KORD. If you're willing to 1) use multiple carriers 2) depart on or after Jan 1 and 3) arrive and depart from different airports (Tampa vs. Orlando) then the fares get down to the $200 range, however you now have to get from the west coast of FL to the east coast (and back, perhaps.) Factoring in the car rental makes me think that I might be slightly ahead actually driving. It's also a good excuse to stop by Memphis and check out a few BBQ shacks, etc. I'm still working the #'s but I'll definately figure out a way to do this (I really like the idea of getting in some tunnel time.) I'd like 2007 to not be remembered as the 'year of the Illinois screw-job' (this is a long story, and superficially tragic...)
Cheers,
-Deke

Rook,
Like I replied to Kris, I'm still sorting out the details, but I'm going to make every effort to do this. I'll certainly have a firm thumbs-up/ down before the Dec. 15 deadline. Regarding equipment, I'll pretty much need everything (jumpsuit for 5' 6" 140 # jumper, Saber II 190 sq ft. rig [at least that's what I've been jumping with, so far] altimeter, helmet, radio and goggles, etc.) Anyone give thought as to how post jump de-briefs will work down there? Normal at SDC is to dump JM helmet cam to VHS, but if the camera has USB/ firewire output I could probably just bring my laptop and capture the video directly into FCP or iMovie (this would actually be a lot more useful to me as I really don't have a working VHS at home anymore and have to bum a player off of my mom to watch my past jumps on tape.)
Thanks,
-Deke

| We will be able to use a team room to debrief the AFP jumps. I will also have a RV there if needed. We will bring with us everything we need to complete AFP jumps. (rigs, radios, helmets, etc) We have DVD burners, however once you bring a disk you have to use another one. This mean instead of just one disk you have 17. We are working on updating the downloading process but haven't come across anything that works as well as VHS and fits the budget. We can at the end of the boogie download the jumps onto whatever you like. Graduation jumps with the ocean in the background? Sounds like a good bonfire story to me!! |

| To those still trying to work out their arrangements: Check with Georgia at Ottawa travel, she's my mom (815)433-0285. She's a wiz with cross checking all the vendors and always finds me something cheaper than all that online crap. I'm sure pickings are gettin slim the closer we get to the event, but ya never know. |

All,
I'm having trouble finding a combination of flights and accomodations that fit my schedule and budget, so I'm considering driving down and back from Madison, WI. I'd like to take a poll to see if anyone would be interested in splitting the driving and gas there and back. I'm mostly interested in finding another driver so that it would be a straight-through drive w/ no overnite stop overs (it's ~23 hour drive from Madison.) The car is a Jeep, so I can probably accomodate 2 others comfortably and my only real requirements are for non-smokers.
My schedule is relatively flexible,as far as departure and return is concerned, and may be more governed by weather and hotel availability. I haven't booked hotel yet, so I would also be willing to share accomodations, though there doesn't seem to be anything reasonably priced in the vicinity of Sebastian airport (hence the need for wheels.) I'm also planning a day trip to KSC (gotta see the Saturn-V, right?) If you may be interested, drop me a line at drmemory *@* rocketmail *dot* com (remove the stars to make a functional email address.)
Thanks,
-Deke

| I have considered going but right now everything is up in the air. Two months of unemployment and running through tests at NMH. Depending on the outcome may have to scrap the plans for Sebastian this year. Long story short may have to go in for surgery to donate a kidney for my brother. Time will tell what unfolds from this. |

Hi,
I'm going to the invasion too. I'm looking for a roommate to share the room with me from Dec 28th to Jan 4th.
By the way, I'll be at Melbourne, FL (30 miles north from Sebastian, FL) on Dec 28th at 1pm and if by any chance, a group is driving around there at that very time, it'd be great to give me a lift ;-)
About me: 24, French, not licensed yet (that's why I'm coming)...
Please sent me an email at christophe.prinderre @ gmail.com ! See you in Florida, |

Hi everyone,
I made a reservation at Key West Inn @ Captain Hiram's. The room is $89 a night. Check in on Dec 28th, check out on Jan 4th. At the time being, we are two (with Keith) and there are two more spots in the room (2 queen-size beds: we can share, can't we?). It'd be great if you want to join us. Send me an email at christophe.prinderre @ gmail.com Cheers, |
